Healing After Loss — Finding Meaning, Connection, and Hope Again

Grief changes everything. Whether you’ve lost a loved one, a child, a sibling, a parent, or even a version of your life you once knew — loss can leave you feeling disoriented, angry, numb, or completely undone. Some days, it might feel impossible to catch your breath, while other days you wonder why you don’t feel anything at all.

You’re not alone. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 2.5 million Americans die each year, leaving behind countless loved ones navigating the emotional aftermath. Research from the American Psychological Association shows that nearly 1 in 5 adults experiences prolonged grief symptoms after a major loss — and many never reach out for help.

I provide online grief and bereavement counseling to help individuals and families make sense of loss, reconnect with life, and find ways to honor their loved one while moving forward with compassion and meaning.

Understanding Grief

Grief isn’t a single emotion — it’s a full-body experience. It affects your thoughts, your sleep, your appetite, and even how you see the world. While bereavement refers to the process of recovering after the death of someone you love, grief can also arise after other major losses — such as divorce, miscarriage, infertility, illness, or life transitions.

Common experiences include: Physical symptoms: fatigue, headaches, loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, or feeling physically weak. Emotional symptoms: sadness, anger, guilt, anxiety, loneliness, or a deep sense of yearning. Social symptoms: isolation, withdrawal, or feeling disconnected from others who “don’t understand.”

There is no “right” way to grieve — and there’s no timeline. Some people find comfort in routines; others feel completely lost. My role is to meet you wherever you are and help you navigate the storm with compassion and gentle structure.

How I Help

Through grief and bereavement counseling, I provide a safe and supportive space to:

  • Process and make sense of your emotions after loss

  • Reduce feelings of guilt, anger, or isolation

  • Explore your relationship with your loved one and find ways to stay connected through memory and meaning

  • Rebuild your sense of self and purpose

  • Develop healthy coping tools for managing waves of grief when they arise

My approach integrates Complicated Grief Therapy (CGT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Attachment-Focused support to help you move toward healing at your own pace. For some clients, this includes creating rituals of remembrance or storytelling — especially powerful for sibling grief and family loss, which are often misunderstood or overlooked.

When Grief Touches Families and Children

Children and siblings often grieve in ways that adults don’t recognize — through play, questions, behavior changes, or silence. As I continue developing my children’s book on sibling grief, my work remains deeply connected to helping families talk about loss in a way that is honest, gentle, and healing.

Together, we can explore how to support your children through their grief while you manage your own, helping everyone in the family find language, connection, and comfort.

You Don’t Have to Walk Through This Alone

Grief is one of the most painful — and universal — human experiences. But you don’t have to go through it alone or feel like you must “get over it.” Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means learning to carry love and loss together in a way that feels lighter and more peaceful.
